Impact measurement is nothing more than planning, understanding, communicating and improving your organization’s impact,
based on your data.
Operating an impact measurement system is a five-step cycle:
- First, plan how you will achieve the desired effect and how you will measure it.
- Second, implement the impact measurement system to get as much information as possible.
- Then interpret and evaluate the data obtained in the light of the objectives set,
- and review what you have learned from the results and how you could further improve your work and the impact measurement process.
- Finally, plan your communication based on the data collected and the findings of the impact measurement.
But how shall I embark this process? What is the difference between the result and the effect at all? What to do with data that is difficult to quantify? How do we integrate impact measurement into our existing processes? Does the measurement help us decide? How is an authentic, impact-based communication look like?
… These are just a few of the questions that can zigzag in your head when you decide thinking about impact measurement. At Impact Academy, we look for answers to these questions and help you build your own impact measurement system.

WHY IS THIS PROGRAM IMPORTANT?
The social organizations operating in our region are constantly facing challenges of sustainability and legitimacy while representing the most excluded groups in society and developing solutions to social problems.
Measuring and demonstrating the social impact is key to addressing this, but this area is still underdeveloped and often overlooked in Hungary and the region.
Our goal is to create a community of relevant ecosystem actors who, as ‘ambassadors’, can set good examples in the field of effective impact measurement and communication.
This is needed so that an ever-expanding circle of organizations can understand, evaluate and share the results of their impact assessment.

‘ The most important for us was to define our own impact: this has been hidden in our manifesto for years, but we were able to put it into shape precisely during the training. We found the e-learning materials very useful; and the personal attention we received during the mentoring is just invaluable. ‘

‘ The Impact Academy program has helped us a lot to be structured from the very start of the organization. It was less of a hurry-scurry, as we knew where to go, what to do and why. It’s a special treasure that we infected the whole organization with this “mindset” right from the start of the organization. ‘
